Collagen PIN is the trade name of a specific device that induces micro-injuries into the skin using a pattern of 36 tiny needles. Other names for similar technology include CytoPen, Dermapen, MDPen, SkinPen, Cosmopen, CollaPen, Micro-needling Pen, Collagen Induction Therapy and many others. The majority of devices are equipped with twelve 32 or 33 gauge needles that may be adjusted to a specific depth penetration and speed of action depending on the area of the face and/or body targeted. Escobedo Esthetics is proud to offer the Collagen PIN device with 36 tiny needles and a depth of up to 3mm. This new device offers greater depth of penetration and more density than any other device on the market. The micro-injuries stimulate the body to produce more collagen and elastin leading to total rejuvenation of the skin. Texture, fine lines, abnormal pigmentation, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, skin laxity and hair growth are improved over a series of treatments.
We are all familiar with the concept of fractional laser resurfacing made famous earlier this decade. The notion of creating an injury while sparing surrounding tissue elicits faster healing times. Escobedo Esthetics offers a method to induce a similar type of injury without the adverse side effects associated with ablation and coagulation using CO2 fractional laser resurfacing. While the benefits of Collagen PIN microneedling are not as drastic, microneedling provides results with less adverse side effects such as prolonged down time, abnormal pigmentation and possible scarring especially in ethnic skin types. Collagen PIN provides a unique solution for treating hyperpigmentation in ethnic patients in that the pigment is mechanically destroyed without the use of heat. Heat is the nidus for pigmentation disorders in Ethnic skin. Collagen PIN works well with the IPL Laser Photofacial Treatments for improving the appearance of abnormal pigmentation.
Healing & Regeneration consists of three phases. The Inflammatory Phase is the body’s natural response to injury. The main cells involved include phagocytic neutrophils and macrophages. The Proliferation Phase is characterized by the production of granulation tissue consisting of collagen and extracellular matrix including the development of new blood vessels that increase nutrition and oxygen to target tissues. The Maturation Phase involves the remodeling of type III collagen (pliable) into type I collagen (stiff).
Our technology allows us to dictate the depth of penetration and speed at which the needles contact the skin. It is incredibly important to differentiate between specific treatment areas. We would never use the same depth and speed around the sensitive eye area as we would for a scar on the chest wall. This level of sophistication allows us to customized individual treatments.
*NOTE: While similar devices may be available at beauty salons and spas, devices sold to medical professionals allow for more aggressive treatment options.
What are the Benefits of Collagen PIN Microneedling Collagen Induction Therapy?
The Collagen PIN Microneedling device creates tiny pilons of injury within the skin. This injury induces the body to recruit growth factors to promote healing by creating new collagen and elastin. These microchannels remain open for approximately 30-45 minutes before closing.
It is during this opportune time that Dr. Escobedo recommends applying PRP Platelet-Rich Plasma and BMSC Bone Marrow derived Stem Cell solution harvested from your own body. This solution accelerates the healing process and recruits a balanced anti-inflammatory regeneration response to maximize results and benefits.
While Collagen PIN Microneedling Collagen Induction Therapy as a standalone procedure offers many benefits, the combined use with PRP and BMSC produces better results.
How does Collagen PIN Microneedling Collagen Induction Therapy Help?
Microneedling initiates a cascade of healing processes that ultimately create new collagen and elastin within the target area. The new collagen and elastin improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, abnormal pigmentation, skin laxity, hair regrowth and skin texture.
Collagen PIN Microneedling Collagen Induction Therapy is effective for the improvement of:
- Fine lines around the eyes known as crow’s feet
- Fine lines and wrinkles of the face
- Skin tone and texture
- Stretch marks
- Full face rejuvenation
- Décolletage wrinkles and fine lines
- Dull dry skin
- Lifeless skin of the hands
- Hair Regrowth
- Abnormal Pigmentation
- Acne Scars
Collagen PIN Microneedling is combined with other treatments such as:
- PRP Platelet-Rich Plasma & BMSC Bone Marrow derived Stem Cells
- UltraPulse Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing Therapy
Note: in most cases, patients will require multiple treatment sessions six weeks apart.
