Laser Skin Resurfacing in Austin, TX
Laser skin resurfacing is an effective and long-lasting method that provides skin rejuvenation. The carbon dioxide (CO2) laser evenly ablates the skin surface layer by layer, which allows for optimal depth control as well as a clearly defined limit for better results. This CO2 laser is a valuable tool that is used to treat a variety of aesthetic conditions, including wrinkles, acne scarring, and more.
Ultrapulse CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing
Dr. Escobedo offers three types of laser skin resurfacing:
Active FX Laser Skin Resurfacing
Active FX uses a pattern that’s 1.3 mm in width of CO2 energy which is used on the skin. Depending on the power density and the required treatment, the coverage can vary.
Active FX requires 4 to 6 weeks of downtime due to the intensity of energy used.
Active FX is ideal for correcting:
- Sun damage
- Precancerous lesions
- Red and brown spots
- Large pores
Deep FX Laser Skin Resurfacing
Deep FX uses a smaller pattern consisting of 120 micron spots with densities ranging from 5-25 percent. In comparison to Active FX, the beams of CO2 energy can reach deep into the skin and could reach the fat if turned up high enough. It provides the added benefit of collagen remodeling and is less painful compared to the Active FX treatment, but with less effective improvement to skin surfaces.
Deep FX requires 3 weeks of downtime. Because of the differences in how the laser delivers CO2 energy with Active FX vs. Deep FX treatment, each procedure is used to treat different skin conditions.
Deep FX is ideal for correcting:
- Fine lines
- Mild skin laxity
- Acne scars
- Stretch marks
