New Rejuvenation Trends in Cosmetic Medicine include the use of Thread Lift Sutures, Dermapen Microneedling (Collagen PIN), less cosmetic dermal fillers, less Dysport & Botox per area, and lip augmentation using the new Revanesse Versa hyaluronic acid cosmetic dermal filler.
Most clients visiting Escobedo Esthetics have similar concerns. They want to improve skin laxity of the neck, mid and lower face often pointing to the smile lines (parenthesis) around their mouth. In addition, they request solutions for eliminating the dark circles under the eyes; reducing the appearance of frown and forehead lines as well as lines around the eyes. A large number of both male and females seek to enhance the shape and contour of their lips.
Over the last year, we have modified our skin rejuvenation approach for addressing these concerns. We incorporate a wide variety of procedures, services, and products. Our goal is to achieve a more natural rejuvenated result. We have found that using less cosmetic dermal filler, Botox, and Dysport leads to a better cosmetic result. As our mobile phone camera resolution continues to improve there is no doubt that we will continue to notice more imperfections to our appearance even those caused by over-correction.
What can I do about my smile lines and dark circles under my eyes?
In the past, we used cosmetic dermal fillers, to lift and fill loose and sagging skin. Today, we use thread lift sutures to lift and tighten the skin of the smile lines, marionette lines, jowls, and neck. After correcting skin laxity, we use cosmetic dermal fillers to improve any contour defects remaining such as under the eyes, along the smile lines, marionette lines, and chin. By approaching each patient in this fashion, we find that we use much less cosmetic dermal filler and achieve a less inflated result. Overall the patient appears to have a thinner face because we have reduced the heavy appearance of the lower face by repositioning the skin with thread lift sutures. We have found that thread lift sutures are more effective at lifting tissue than cosmetic dermal fillers, and in many instances can defer the need for a surgical face-lift until a later time.
In many instances, the dark circles under the eyes are caused by either skin laxity, loss of lower lid fat pads, or a combination of the two. Generally, we notice improvement of the skin laxity under the eyes after a thread lift suture procedure. If a contour defect remains, we use cosmetic dermal fillers such as Radiesse or Revanesse to soften the defect.
What should I do to improve the appearance of crow’s feet, frown and forehead lines?
Over the last year, we have implemented a new technique whereby we use less Dysport, Botox, or Xeomin per treatment area. This approach allows our clients to retain their natural expressions. In the past, we used the recommended number of units to treat the crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines. In most instances this number was excessive and caused the patient to have a frozen and un-natural reaction to social cues. We decided to use less units of Dysport, Botox, or Xeomin and recruit additional muscles to retain a more balanced and natural appearance. Our approach has been well received by our clients.
What can I do to enhance the appearance and outline of my lips?
Over the last twenty years, we have used a wide assortment of cosmetic dermal filler available in the United States such as Cosmoplast, Hylaform, Captique, Juvederm, and Resytlane. These fillers for the most part cause a moderate level of swelling and bruising. Additionally, the duration of effect is upwards of 9 months. Today, we use Revanesse Versa which is the newest hyaluronic acid cosmetic dermal fillers on the market as of February 2018. It is by far our favorite hyaluronic acid filler because we noticed no bruising and the amount of post procedure swelling is extremely mild. Revanesse Versa creates an immensely natural result. Patients may literally come into the office for a Revanesse lip augmentation then go out shopping. It is incredibly soft and malleable. The results last upwards of one year.
What can I do to improve the appearance of brown spots, enlarged pores, fine lines, and uneven skin tone?
Clients seeking to improve the appearance of brown spots, enlarged pores, fine lines and uneven skin tone are prescribed skin care products including the newest formulation of Escobedo Lightening Cream which contains upwards of 13 ingredients that reduce the appearance of abnormal pigmentation. In addition, we recommend a combination approach using IPL Laser Photofacial Treatments and Dermapen Microneedling (Collagen PIN).
IPL Photofacial uses a broad-spectrum light which targets abnormal pigmentation, broken blood vessels, enlarges pores, unwanted facial hair and fine lines. The Dermapen Microneedling device (Collagen PIN) incorporates the use of 36 tiny needles to penetrate the skin at different depths to improve the appearance of abnormal pigmentation, fine lines, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, and acne scars.
