Platelet-Rich Plasma: PRP Injections
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma which is a substance produced within the human body’s blood. PRP contains a variety of growth factors, cytokines, interleukins, interferon’s, and platelets which, when combined, are essential in providing the body what it needs to heal after an injury.
PRP injections are used to aid in the healing and regeneration of injured tissues such as skin, muscles, joints, tendons, and blood vessels. Platelet-rich plasma may improve the appearance of skin and stimulate hair growth.
Healing & Regeneration consists of three phases. The Inflammatory Phase is the body’s natural response to injury. The main cells involved include phagocytic neutrophils and macrophages. The Proliferation Phase is characterized by the production of granulation tissue consisting of collagen and extracellular matrix including the development of new blood vessels that increase nutrition and oxygen to target tissues. The Maturation Phase involves the remodeling of type III collagen (pliable) into type I collagen (stiff).
Escobedo Esthetics offers a technology used to extract PRP (platelet-rich plasma) by collecting whole blood from a patient where it is later placed in a centrifuge for the separation process. The PRP extracted is either injected directly and/or topically applied over the skin to ignite a more youthful appearance.
We strongly recommend the use of a mixture of PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and BMSC (bone marrow derived stem cells) in conjunction with the Dermapen Microneedling Collagen Induction Therapy for maximum impact.
